In recent times, the ability to have flexible working arrangements has become a highly valued benefit by employees. Technology that enables people to work from any place at any time. Employers who includes flexibility as part of their proposition, attract new employees, as well as retaining existing employees.

Types of Flexible Working Arrangements

Flexible working can look very different for each person depending on their personal and financial situation. Examples of types of flexible working options include:-

Informal Flexibility – Short term or occasional flexible working arrangements between employer and employee.

Planned extended leave – Taking advantage of leave entitlements such as long service leave or parental leave.

Job Sharing – An situation where one or more people may share the same job. Both people are employed on a part-time basis.

Time Off in Lieu – Time off from work instead of overtime payments.

Freelance/Consulting – self-employed and provide a range of services but not linked in a particular company i.e. working from yourself.
